These systems can be seen serving electricity control systems, sewerage control systems and such have been trust which has been entrusted with these systems that now SCADA in the water industry has become inseparable part.

With the deployment of SCADA in the water system the maintenance costs have reduced to great extent along with the time taken to diagnose the fault. The underlying principle of SCADA in the water industry is same as of SCADA systems in general.

There are present remote sensors which collect the data and via a transmission media send the collected data to a central system which carries out the task of management, processing and display of the collected data in human readable format. The data gets displayed at Man Machine Interface, also called MMI. The brain of every SCADA system lies in PLCs which is acronym for Programmable Logic.

SCADA systems have become synonym for efficient, better, safer and secure working environment. Now it comes to mind, what makes them so important? Well, the answer lies in the abbreviation of SCADA only. 

SCADA stands for Supervisory Control and Data acquisition. SCADA systems are designed with the goal of collection of data at regular intervals from sensors located in the remote locations or in factories. After the collection part, now comes the analysis of the data. Data collected is processed and then managed in human readable format along with creation of records as history.

There can be SCADA Programmer which is able to carry programming of logic converters of SCADA systems. The job profile will include configuration and programming of automation and various control systems including Human Machine Interface (abbreviated as HMI), or Man machine interface (abbreviated as MMI) or even SCADA systems.

To see yourself in profile of SCADA engineer job profile, you need to be well versed in certain type of software packages which are of great importance in this field as they are used for doing programming. Common software employed are Wonderware, Intellution, Rockewell, Iconics. Ci-tech etc.

Also you need to be sound in Boolean logic, data logging, symbol conventions along with tagging convention. Generally the positions for SCADA engineers seek people having nice hand at Visual Basic Programming, reporting packages, alarming with external paging.
