and on its basis the system reacts to a particular state. PLCs can be
easily programmed. The SCADA system like in all systems also keeps a
record of data collected in database in a systematic way and can be
easily accessed and manipulated.
Thus, when one needs to locate the fault he can easily locate by
checking the parameters which are stored in database. As the faults
gets detected in a timely and efficient manner, SCADA in the water
industry also saves troubleshooting costs which can be huge if there is
no idea of the location f the fault.
Data transmitted from remote sensors to central unit can be done in
many ways (Ethernet, serial ports, wireless) but wireless mode of
transmission is always cost effective and efficient. Thus, it
can be concluded that SCADA in the water industry has proved to be a
boon paying for the efficient and reliable working of water control
systems.

SCADA systems have become synonym for efficient, better, safer and
secure working environment. Now it comes to mind, what makes them so
important? Well, the answer lies in the abbreviation of SCADA
only.
SCADA stands for Supervisory Control and Data acquisition. SCADA
systems are designed with the goal of collection of data at regular
intervals from sensors located in the remote locations or in factories.
After the collection part, now comes the analysis of the data. Data
collected is processed and then managed in human readable format along
with creation of records as history.
Now, the realm of SCADA has expanded to water management systems,
environmental control systems, mass transportation or manufacturing
systems. |

Scada in the electricity industry
No one can doubt the way, SCADA systems have transformed the way
automated tasks were use to get performed. Just due to SCADA systems,
various automated tasks have become more reliable and
efficient.
As these systems don't require or a very little human intervention and
are able to handle most of impermissible states, they have also cut the
costs of maintenance and trouble shooting. Due to high degree of
reliability, efficiency and flexibility, these SCADA systems have found
themselves in almost most every realm of automated tasks.
SCADA systems are now widely used in control systems (like water
control systems, sewerage control systems) or even in daily equipments
like water metering pumps. The extent to which automated tasks have
become dependent on SCADA systems cab be judged from this fact that
SCADA in the electricity industry has become a necessity.
