Scada in the electricity industry Design basic scada system Scada antenna

If the project encompasses large area to be surveyed and human surveillance in not possible in such case, then one needs long distance SACDA radio networks to be employed for sending the data collected from remote sensors to central unit.

When area under surveillance is hundreds of kilometres such as in case of petroleum pipeline, the only feasible solution is long distance Scada GSM.  Most important requisite for long range Scada GSMs is ability to transmit the data to long distance.

For such purposes, repeaters are used as line of sight is limited to 5 miles. Repeaters are radio transmitters which act as boosters for signals as signals tend to get weak after travelling certain amount of distance. Thus repeaters boost the attenuated signals and again transmit them to next repeater/ central system.

SCADA systems (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Systems) have altogether revolutionized the way of doing automated tasks and increasing the efficiency with which they get performed. Being closed loop systems they require minimal human intervention and can perform most of changes continuously without any need of human to intervene.

So effective SCADA systems have been proved that now they are not being employed not only at factories but also in many types of control systems mainly being electricity control system (both traditional and nuclear), water control systems, sewerage control systems etc. The basic principle for SCADA systems is the collection of data at specific intervals of time and after the collection, sending the data collected from these sensors to a central unit.

Scada in the electricity industry

No one can doubt the way, SCADA systems have transformed the way automated tasks were use to get performed. Just due to SCADA systems, various automated tasks have become more reliable and efficient.

As these systems don't require or a very little human intervention and are able to handle most of impermissible states, they have also cut the costs of maintenance and trouble shooting. Due to high degree of reliability, efficiency and flexibility, these SCADA systems have found themselves in almost most every realm of automated tasks.

SCADA systems are now widely used in control systems (like water control systems, sewerage control systems) or even in daily equipments like water metering pumps. The extent to which automated tasks have become dependent on SCADA systems cab be judged from this fact that SCADA in the electricity industry has become a necessity.
