Gas companies make every effort in order to achieve RTBI as a viable advantage. The business IT communications, business requests and SCADA and PCS are congregating. Joining the union of this communication is the amplified threat of cyber-rate in the SCADA and PC environments.

The SCADA together with the Process Control Security dispute has to be assessed based upon the objective, this is to find out whether the installations is for securing the present installation or to install a whole new system.

One of key features about SCADA systems is their ability of real time monitoring of entire system. This is accomplished by data acquisitions from sensors viz meter reading, status of sensor etc that are sent to central system at regular time period depending upon the system. Along with data acquisition another function performed by SCADA system is to display the data collected from various sensors in human readable format so that any time human can intervene as the need arises.

These systems can be seen serving electricity control systems, sewerage control systems and such have been trust which has been entrusted with these systems that now SCADA in the water industry has become inseparable part.

With the deployment of SCADA in the water system the maintenance costs have reduced to great extent along with the time taken to diagnose the fault. The underlying principle of SCADA in the water industry is same as of SCADA systems in general.

There are present remote sensors which collect the data and via a transmission media send the collected data to a central system which carries out the task of management, processing and display of the collected data in human readable format. The data gets displayed at Man Machine Interface, also called MMI. The brain of every SCADA system lies in PLCs which is acronym for Programmable Logic.
