With this in
mind, a good mix of proactive information defense, risk
assessment tools and network security measures could never be
over-emphasized. Besides harnessing a powerful e-mail security,
anti-spam and web filtering capabilities, confidentiality breaches and
improper employee mail (one of the areas that is mostly overlooked and
downplayed as a security risk despite the awareness about the possible
debilitating scenarios) should also be addressed.
Your system security policy must lay the groundwork for identifying
prevention, vigilant detection and the appropriate response measures.

effective manner, e.g., periodic penetration analyses.
Detection measures should be in place to detect various potential
attacks and intrusions or even something as seemingly harmless as
inadvertent misuse of information system.
Response measures this should complete the package. No matter how
efficient your deployed system defense, risk assessment tools and
network security measures are, you must cap all these with the
countermeasure aspect of your entire system.
Nothing could be worse than to be presented with a threatening
situation and you find you do not have the proper response framework to
work with.
